Memory Quilt Fresno — Part 1 | Stitch Perfect & Co

Memory Quilt Part 1 sewing class in Fresno — quilt blocks being laid out from meaningful garments at Stitch Perfect & Co

There are some projects that are about making something beautiful, and then there are projects that are about holding onto a story. This memory quilt class in Fresno has always felt like the second kind to me.

For 30 years, I’ve sat across sewing tables from people carrying garments they just can’t part with. Sometimes it’s a stack of shirts that belonged to a husband, wife, parent, or grandparent. Sometimes it’s a box of baby onesies that has followed a family through several moves. Other times it’s a collection of travel shirts that mark years of adventures together. The fabric itself may be worn, but the memories are still strong.

On Saturday, October 17, 2026, we’ll gather for Memory Quilt Part 1, the first of two class sessions. This is where the foundation of your quilt begins. You’ll bring the garments you want to preserve, and we’ll spend the day cutting, organizing, and laying out the pieces that will become your quilt.

One thing that makes this class a little different is that I create a custom pattern for every student. A quilt made from baby onesies needs a different approach than one made from adult dress shirts. Travel shirts, sports shirts, and memorial garments all have their own challenges and opportunities. Before class, I design a layout that works with the clothing you bring so the pieces fit together in a way that feels balanced and intentional.

What to Expect in This Memory Quilt Class in Fresno

This class is for anyone who has been holding onto clothing because it means something. If you’ve lost a loved one and want a way to keep their memory close, this class is for you. If you have a box of baby clothes you’ve saved for years, it’s for you too. Grandparents who want to preserve family memories and couples with shirts from shared trips and milestones are right at home in this class.

By the end of Part 1, you’ll leave with your quilt pieces cut and laid out, with a clear plan for assembly. You’ll understand how the quilt comes together and be ready for the next step when we meet again for Memory Quilt Part 2 on October 24.

If you’ve been thinking about turning those meaningful garments into something you can use, display, and pass down, take a look at the class page. You’ll find all the details there and can reserve your seat when you’re ready.
